Dracula's Guest cover

Robot Comics is proud to bring Bram Stoker’s Dracula’s Guest to mobiles, adapted by Stephen L. Antczak and James C. Bassett, illustrated by Steven Sanders (Thunder Road) and lettered by Sean Taylor. Available both as an illustrated short story and as an original comic book, this free version of Dracula’s Guest will thrill new and old readers alike. Two years after Bram Stoker’s death in 1912, his widow published a collection of his short stories, entitled Dracula’s Guest. In her preface to this collection, Florence Stoker wrote of the title story:

“A few months before the lamented death of my husband -I might say even as the shadow of death was over him- he planned three series of short stories for publication, and the present volume is one of them. To his original list of stories in this book, I have added a hitherto unpublished episode from ‘Dracula.’ It was originally excised owning to the length of the book, and may prove of interest to the many readers of what is considered my husband’s most remarkable work.”

The origin of “Dracula’s Guest” as an early, excised chapter of Dracula was universally accepted for seventy years. But with the release of Stoker’s notes for the novel, scholars began to question Florence Stoker’s account. The discovery in 1984 of a manuscript copy of Dracula further argued against “Dracula’s Guest” being a missing first chapter. Today, hardly anyone believes that “Dracula’s Guest” was ever a part of the original Dracula manuscript. The true nature of the story, however, remains in dispute-opinions range from a missing second (rather than first) chapter to a much later short story only peripherally related to the novel through the characters of Jonathan Harker and Count Dracula. While it is clear that the style and tone of “Dracula’s Guest” do not fit the book, the story remains an important part of the Dracula mythos -and, of course, a ripping good yarn!

Thunder Road cover

A high-action, wide-sweeping, episodic pulp adventure by writer Sean Demory and illustrator Steven Sanders (Marvel’s S.W.O.R.D. and Image Comics’ Five Fists of Science).
The bomb-ravaged American Heartland has been largely left out of the equation, falling prey to unchecked corporate land-barons and motorcycle-riding, nazidope-smoking MEF veterans ravaging the wastes. Some small towns have become fortresses, while others have followed the Soviet model and taken to the road, with clans roaming from one corp-compound to the next. Route 66, Interstate 70 and a dozen other superhighways have become the new frontier, where fortunes can be made with grit, cunning and a steady hand.
Welcome to the Thunder Road.

Robot Comics is proud to bring Bram Stoker’s Dracula’s Guest to mobiles, adapted by Stephen L. Antczak and James C. Bassett, illustrated by Steven Sanders (S.W.O.R.D., Thunder Road) and lettered by Sean Taylor. Presented both as an illustrated short story and as an original comic book, this free version of Dracula’s Guest will provide a thrilling introduction to Stoker’s most well known novel.

Dracula’s Guest follows a curious Englishman on a visit to Munich before leaving for Transylvania. It is Walpurgis Night, and in spite of the hotelier’s warnings, the young man later wanders toward the direction of an abandoned unholy village, where a series of inexplicable happenings will give the Englishman a taste of what soon awaits him.

Included in a collection of Stoker’s short stories posthumously collected by his widow, Dracula’s Guest has puzzled readers and scholars for generations. Is it an early, excised chapter of Dracula? Or the basis of a much larger short story related to the novel? While its nature still remains unclear, the story remains an important part of the Dracula mythos -and, of course, a ripping good yarn!

Antczak, Basset and Sanders take on the challenge of presenting Dracula’s Guest to modern audiences by creating a faithful comic book adaptation of the short story. Currently available for iPhone and iPod touch, the adaptation will be soon be published for Android mobiles, Kindle and various other digital platforms.

The first issue of THUNDER ROAD, a high-action, wide-sweeping, episodic pulp adventure by writer Sean Demory and illustrator Steven Sanders (Marvel’s S.W.O.R.D. and Image Comics’ Five Fists of Science) hit the iTunes storefront this week, offering the first 99 screens of this dystopic military sci-fi blitzkrieg free for iPhone and iPod Touch.  This marks Thunder Road as the very first comic to be available on the iPhone, Android, and Nintendo DSi simultaneously!
Thunder Road is a comic that was made exclusively for mobiles – there is no adaptation involved in this series.  The free first issue also includes a “world’s first” bonus extra: the very first original mobile comic script.  The script was designed and formatted by Robot Comics for a surprisingly visual and effortless reading experience at the end of each Thunder Road installment.
Big guns, fast cars, tough women and nuclear armageddon. It’s The Road Warrior meets Dr. Strangelove.
Thunder Road was originally published in censored editions only on the iTunes market, but Robot Comics is proud to present for the very first time the uncensored 17+ version of this unique comic experience!
