Award-Winning Author Goes Mobile with Gripping Graphic Thriller

Writer A. David Lewis is no stranger to the world of comics, having penned the Harvey-Award nominated and Howard E. Day Prize winning The Lone and Level Sands, as well as the Paper Screen Gem Award winning Mortal Coils and the critically acclaimed Some New Kind of Slaughter. Now Lewis is teaming with rising-star artist Jason Copland (The Perhapanauts: Molly’s Story, Postcards, and Trickster) to bring mobile comics readers the action-oriented thriller, Empty Chamber.

“It’s a weird recipe,” Lewis says of the book. “It’s The Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy mixed a little with Goldeneye. And, from comics, there’s a bit of Whiteout, Queen & Country, Global Frequency and even Planetary thrown in (no wonder the Colonel’s named Ellis, right?). After working with Jason on Mortal Coils, I wanted to do a project that was not only fun and exciting, but would appeal to the sort of broad audience that enjoys 24. In teaming with Jason Copland, I don’t think we’ve sacrificed intelligence or storytelling by any means.”

Empty Chamber is being released as a 3-issue monthly mini-series by Robot Comics. The first issue is now available for Android using Robot Comics new frame-by-frame reading experience and will soon be offered on iTunes and for the Amazon Kindle in both K1&2 and DX editions.

“When I wrote Empty Chamber, I was thirsty for some smart action,” says Lewis. “Adventure’s great, but only when it’s held up with a pretty intelligent structure. At the same time, nothing kills action quicker than egg-headed snobbery that flies over its audience’s head. Empty Chamber is an attempt to walk that middle route: It’s meant to be sharp.”

Second Generation Mobile Comic

Emtpy Chamber is a second generation mobile comic, blending together frame-by-frame animation, transition effects, vibration and custom screens to provide a brand new comic reading experience while also staying true to the traditional comic book form.

Synopsis

Aamer “Matt” Mahtganee is a nobody, a geek conspiracy theorist who suddenly finds himself the target of a real conspiracy! He and his lone mercenary protector are the country’s only hope in stopping a renegade American general from committing a puzzling genocide – one without firing a single bullet, releasing a bomb, or shedding one drop of blood. By award-winning writer A. David Lewis (The Lone and Level Sands, Mortal Coils) and artist Jason Copland with grayscales by Jennifer Rodgers. It’s a brand new series now on Android and the iTunes marketplace, published by Robot Comics and (for iTunes) bundled with the new iRobot Comics Viewer, and it is one of the most all-out action-packed comic extravaganzas you’ll ever read pitting one upstart young bear wrestler against The Four Great Bears! Sergio Carrera’s THE ETERNAL CITY, the fan-favorite series spotlighted on CNN.com is now available as a complete standalone app containing all 5 chapters of this supernatural drama.

Soundtrack and Extras

The Eternal City for iPhone/iPod touch includes an original soundtrack, one song for each chapter from the Argentinian band, Acröbata.

The app is available as a free download and includes the first chapter and the song Laberintos (”Labyrinths”). Subsequent chapters can be purchased for $0.99 US (*). Each chapter comes with a new song by Acröbata.
