UPDATED 1/09/09 to work with Kindle firmware 2.3
If you’ve upgraded your Kindle firmware to anything above 2.3 (up to 3.0.3 is available for some), this hack won’t work, and there is no way currently to add custom screensavers to anything above 2.3
Hopefully Amazon will include the ability to add custom screensavers without the need for a “hack” in the near future (it’s rumored to happen sometime in 2010). Until then, here’s what you do:

That’s it! This hack works with Kindle 1, Kindle 2, Kindle DX, and Kindle 2 International versions.
